Mike Peterson
Freelance Photographer
Hey I'm Mike Peterson, and I'm a Connecticut based published freelance photographer.
I've been behind the lens since 2002, and bought my first camera in 2005. I had always been a car guy, and so I decided to combine both of my passions. With that, I've been professionally photographing automobiles for the past decade, capturing vehicles ranging from fun scooters up to multi-million dollar hypercars.
My work across elite automotive, beverage, culinary, and architectural photography has shaped a refined, versatile approach to lighting. Capturing luxury automobiles outdoors taught me to sculpt natural light with precision, while studio beverage work demanded flawless control and immaculate detail. Photographing food in high-end restaurant settings sharpened my instinct for atmosphere and appetite appeal, and my real estate and drone imagery refined my ability to illuminate spaces with clarity, depth, and elegance.
This blend of disciplines allows me to approach every project with a trained eye, technical mastery, and a signature style—delivering imagery that feels elevated, intentional, and beautifully lit in any environment.
I've captured nearly a thousand vehicles in all forms from dealership inventories to online auctions to commissioned rolling shoots for magizines. These vehicles have ranged from $1,000 up to $4M. I have held the keys to the very cars that I idolized as a teenager.
In further developing my photography, I dove head-first into studio projects. I've found that working with my own lighting in my home studio has given me a greater understanding of how to properly compose a beautiful image.
With a better grasp of a blend of studio and natural lighting, this played perfectly into my interest in real estate photography. Every home and room tells a story. Not only are they filled with a rich history; They're ready to be someone else's future.
